Well, same songs, same arrangements, but Bob Rock. Death Magnetic would be much better, and legendary.

It'd be interesting. I think the songs would have more life to them.

Also if he did as much with it as he did the self titled the solo's would be much better and so would the singing.

Harvester, Chaos,

you've just expressed my feelings.

The songs would have been more original, more alive.

And if Bob - bob rock of 90s - could produce this, the vocals would be crazy because the songs have that potential.
And the solos, absolutely would be much more in line with the songs, and would be much better - which is possible when someone really pushes Kirk t do his best.

And guitar tones would have more character in each song. As it is now, the guitars sound one dimentional througout the album..

finally drums, I dont like the drums in DM. I would like the drum sound of black album or load/reload

I wouldn't say the solos would be any better. You can't make a shitty guitarist a good guitarist just by telling him to do better.

Kirk may have gotten lazy but that's a far cry from being a shitty guitarist.

Fair enough. He doesn't have to have amazing technical prowess, but innovation is something of which he apparently knows little.

Some of the Black Album solo's would have been a lot worse off if Bob Rock didn't press him to try harder.

i agree, the guitar tone on DM sounds like a 15 dollar battery powered amp. how can metallica think DM sounds good after making TBA/garage inc? i wonder if their hearing is really that bad.

The really scary thing is the Guitar World feature interview they did right when the album came out...basically James and Kirk said that this was the best guitar tone they've ever gotten, and the Engineer/Production staff did an amazing job.

Also this thread makes me lol considering that 5 years ago on this very forum there was a thread "PETITION TO NOT HAVE BOB ROCK PRODUCE THE NEXT METALLICA ALBUM" which everyone jumped onboard.

I'd like to start a petition to get Metallica to just let someone produce their record without James and Lars' input.

They need someone like Andy Sneap producing their records. They would sound tremendous.

He did a remaster of "Broken Beat and scarred" and it sounded amazing. It has been long since removed from youtube though.

I have it on my computer. All that was done was album's drum sound was replaced with that of the Black Album. But yeah, it sounds a lot better.
